Netflix expands Korean content

Netflix has announced a new slate of Korean shows – from reality to crime and sci-fi to romance, dramas and more.
“From K-pop and K-food, to K-zombie and K-content, we’ve seen how much people in different parts of the world love Korean cultures and stories. So we’re excited to announce these new best-in-class Korean stories for our members,” said Minyoung Kim, Vice President of Korean Content at Netflix. “It’s amazing to see how these Korea films and TV resonate with audiences around the world – from Korea to South East Asia and the Americas. By making it easy for people to watch films and shows from other countries, we can help them build empathy and develop a shared understanding of the world”.
Last year, Crash Landing on You, a romance story about a couple from the two Koreas showed the popularity of K-content making the top 10 list in the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, and Thailand.
Later this year, Kingdom, the hugely popular K-zombie series, will return to Netflix with its second season. Other titles include crime move Time to Hunt, student drama series Extracurricular, fantasy drama series It’s Okay to Not Be Okay, supernatural detective series The King: Eternal Monarch, and Itaewon Class – one of the highest rated TV dramas in Korean cable TV history. All titles are set to roll out during Q2 2020.
Further titles still in production include travel reality series Twogether, and supernatural drama series The School Nurse Files.
