BBC Studios Kids & Family and BBC Studios Social have announced that Felix Martin from the British electronic pop band Hot Chip has teamed up with the hit preschool brand Hey Duggee to create the ‘Hey Duggee: Summer Fun Mix’.
Martin has flexed his DJ skills to curate an electro-pop remix of a collection of popular Hey Duggee original songs. The Summer Fun Mix is available now on Hey Duggee’s official YouTube channel, which has more than 2.5 billion lifetime views.
Hey Duggee: Summer Fun Mix spans 30 minutes and includes The Welcome Badge, which is a catchy song and two-way language lesson that aims to make Ukrainian refugee families feel at home in the UK. The toe-tapping Getting Ready, Duggee On The Dancefloor, The Feelings Song and Hey Duggee Birthday Song also feature, plus many more.
Hey Duggee’s relationship with Hot Chip stems from the A Capella Badge episode, which paid tribute to the band with an animated quartet of birds called Hot Cheep.
Martin commented: ”I had a lot of fun stepping into the Hey Duggee universe for this mix and I’m looking forward to working more with the guys in Hot Cheep too.”
Simon Clarke, Head of Digital Content, Kids & Family at BBC Studios Social, added: “Following on from the hugely positive reaction to the A Capella Badge episode from Hot Chip and Hey Duggee fans, commissioning Felix to remix original Duggee songs into a Summer Party compilation felt like a natural next step. We’re really pleased with his creation and think it’ll be the soundtrack to many family get-togethers and kids parties this summer.”
Hey Duggee, is created and produced by Studio AKA with BBC Studios Kids & Family and CBeebies. It was the most streamed CBeebies show on BBC iPlayer in 2022, the third year in a row its topped the list. New episodes of Hey Duggee season four are scheduled to air on CBeebies and BBC iPlayer this autumn.
