Data: Anyone But You surges Bedingfield views on Vevo

January 31, 2024

Following the cinema release of the film Anyone But You, starring Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell, Natasha Bedingfield’s Unwritten track has charted for the first time in 19 years at Number 18.

Global music video network, Vevo, has revealed a huge surge of 256 per cent in the daily views of the music video for Unwritten. This marks an increase of over 3.5 times the average daily views worldwide.

These viewers have not only gravitated towards the trending music video but have stuck around to explore her wider collection, with Vevo reporting a significant 150 per cent increase in the global daily views of Bedingfield’s overall catalogue. This surge is 2.5 times higher than the typical daily views globally.

This uplift is the latest in a trend highlighting the symbiotic relationship between movies and music discovery, with music videos continuing to be a key way for fans to further their exploration by watching the visuals behind featured soundtracks – especially iconic music from the past. Saltburn also exemplifies this phenomenon, and Vevo has observed a similar trend with movies like Barbie and Top Gun: Maverick, highlighting the power of nostalgia in this dynamic.
