Recast, Pitch serve up Hopman Cup

July 19, 2023

Sports marketing agency Pitch International has partnered with innovative sports broadcasting company Recast to  host the Hopman Cup tennis event, organised by Tennium, on the microtransaction pay-per-view platform which will allow fans in dark markets to watch the event.

The partnership will also increase their global exposure and monetise the rights in territories where broadcasters didn’t choose to pick up the opportunity.

Recast’s Founder and CEO, Andy Meikle said: “We’re delighted that Pitch International has recognized that there is a real opportunity to maximise the exposure and monetisation opportunities they can offer their clients, starting with the Hopman Cup. Recast has the power to help rights holders and agencies alike take advantage of markets where their content may ordinarily go unsold, whether that be live or on-demand content, increasing audiences as well as revenue and provide the fans with more options around the world to watch the sports they love.”

Pitch international’s Director of Media Rights and Sales, Fiona Conroy, added: “In the ever changing world of sports media rights, it’s essential to stay at the forefront of digital innovation and consumer market trends. Working with Recast, allows our clients to realise their own content, distribution and commercial ambitions to future-proof their own business models. Recast provides a fair and transparent platform for both publishers and fans and allows us to expand our reach into dark markets as well as monetise content that we would not have been able to.”

For Fans, Recast is free to join and offers a subscription-free option to watch the sports they love and pays Publishers for every single view, with up to 80 per cent of all income generated going to them directly. Recast’s unique micropayment model prices content from as little as 1p per minute, using an in-platform credit system, ‘Cast Credits’. Casts can either be purchased or earned by watching ads, sharing videos or data, or by inviting friends to join. Casts are used to watch live and on-demand content, with the cost in Casts shown up front.

The Hopman Cup will be shown on Recast from July 19th to 23rd.  Individual streams start from 250 Cast Credits (£2.50) or fans can purchase a 1, 3 or 7 day Channel Pass to watch the whole series from 350 Cast Credits (£3.50).
