Peak 6.5m watch ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent final

The final of the 17th season of Britain’s Got Talent on June 2nd attracted ITV’s biggest overnight audience of the year so far, outside of the FA Cup, with an average audience of 5.2 million and a share of 39 per cent.

Made by Thames, a Fremantle label, a peak of 6.5 million watched Sydnie Christmas named as the winner. The show had a 55 per cent share for 16-34s, with over half a million watching for the two and a half hours. Over on ITVX the series has been streamed more than 17 million times which is up by 2 million streams on last year. This meant the show was the highest rated across the weekend on any channel and ensured ITV was the most watched channel during primetime across the entire weekend.

The series continues to be the biggest entertainment series of the year across any channel. It’s currently averaging 7.1 million including repeats, with the launch episode consolidating up to 8 million and still growing.

Britain’s Got Talent season 17 social content to date has generated in excess of 883 million video views also. In addition, ITV is dominating Saturday nights in 2024 having won 15 out of 22 weeks.

So far this year, ITV’s entertainment shows have reached 89 per cent of the population, equating to over 54 million viewers. They have generated 182 million streams on ITVX (up +11 per cent on last year). Plus 26 shows across five titles – Britain’s Got Talent, Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway, The Masked Singer, Wheel of Fortune and The 1% Club – have all exceeded 5 million viewers.

Every year for 16 years, Britain’s Got Talent has been in ITV’s top five overnight audiences and for the past six seasons (as far as streaming records go back), it has been streamed 77 million times.

Total lifetime views across Britain’s Got Talent social accounts is 24.1 billion and total views over the past 12 months is 4 billion.
