April 22, 2024

ITV, the UK commercial broadcaster, drew significant audiences across entertainment, sport and drama, over the April 20th/21st weekend.

More than 12 million people tuned into the first two launch episodes of Britain’s Got Talent Season 17. Episode 1 on April 20th peaked with 5.8 million viewers (5 million ave.) with a 39 per cent share and has already consolidated up to 6.2 million, whilst episode 2 peaked at 5.2 million (4.5 million ave.) and a 32 per cent share. In addition, Britain’s Got Talent content created for socials has so far garnered 25 million video views.

In sport, the FA Cup semi-final between Manchester United and Coventry City on April 21st – which The Red Devils won in heartbreaking fashion after a penalty shootout – peaked with 7.1 million (ave. 4.4 million) and a 41 per cent share, which is ITV’s second highest overnight this year after the quarter-final match between Livepool and Manchester United on March 17th.

And in drama, Red Eye with Jing Lusi and Richard Armitage launched with a peak of 4.1 million (ave. 3.7 million). Based on overnights alone this makes it ITV’s third biggest drama this year after Mr Bates vs The Post Office and Vera.

Additionally, the Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway finale has also currently consolidated to 5.9 million, up on last year’s finale, with the series winning its time slot every weekend bar one.
