Samsung TV Plus scores FIFA+ deal

July 26, 2023

Samsung Electronics has added OTT service FIFA+ to Samsung TV Plus as part of the continued growth of the brand’s free-access sports offering for Samsung customers.  The FIFA+ FAST channel on Samsung TV Plus will feature an offering of original documentaries, archive footage, and highlights from previous Men’s and Women’s games, building upon the existing sports content on Samsung TV Plus.

The announcement comes during the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 in Australia and New Zealand and will feature a host of content, including highlights, player stories and more – both long and short form.

Samsung TV Plus, the free ad-supported streaming TV service from the TV manufacturer, is exclusively available on more than 50 million Samsung Smart TVs across Europe and will give its users access to FIFA+, and all it has to offer, without the need for an antenna or additional application – just an Internet connection.

According to Samsung, this new collaboration between Samsung TV Plus and FIFA+ demonstrates the growth of FAST channels and the evolving streaming landscape, as further investment continues to pour into highly-demanded sports content within a free ad-supported TV setting. The launch of this new channel on Samsung TV Plus bolsters Samsung’s ongoing commitment to providing a wide range of high-quality sports content that meets the evolving needs of today’s viewers, and cements the transformative role FAST is playing within the total TV viewing experience.

The FIFA+ channel on Samsung TV Plus will offer customers access to thousands of hours of FIFA+ content. Delivering global storytelling around the men’s and women’s game, FIFA+ Originals will feature full-length documentaries, docuseries, talk shows and shorts.

Alex Hole, VP & GM, Samsung Electronics, Europe, commented: “Collaborations like this are helping us transform the face of FAST. With the inclusion of live content from major sporting events, it’s turning our TVs and FAST into a hub of premium sports content and challenging any previous misconceptions about what FAST can offer. For advertisers, offering access to the world’s most-loved sports presents an even greater opportunity to capture the highly engaged viewers on FAST to enjoy these key sporting events.”

Richard Jakeman, Head of Business Development, Samsung Electronics, Europe, added: “Samsung is delighted to be adding the FIFA+ channel to Samsung TV Plus to the expanding roster of sports content on Samsung TVs and Galaxy devices. Launching with a rich line-up of curated FIFA+ content globally will add incredible value to our customers, and with the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 they’ll also be able to experience content that will mark the next exciting chapter in the Women’s game.”
